An effective Organizational Change Management (OCM) program:

• Understands the change readiness level of the organization and engages the organization in preparation activities for the change
• Anticipates the predictable dip in productivity that occurs when disruption occurs
• Recognizes the complexity and nuances of organizational cultures across global organizations

An OCM includes a plan to minimize the impact of a painful change on an organization's performance.  To be effective, it is critical that change management includes:

• Sponsorship strategy involving senior-level leadership from all areas of the business
• Broad-based communication strategy for each key stakeholder group
• Organizational design strategy to maximize the value delivered to employees
• Learning & Development program to help employees understand how to work in the post-“change” environment  


It cannot be a program led by the human resources department.

 
Executive buy-in is crucial and often difficult to obtain. In our experience, if the business initiative fails, lack of executive sponsorship is always a key factor.
